Program: Our Guest Bonsai artist Mr. Roy Nagatoshi, will style a tree for the club. We will raffle the tree off after refreshment that night. We have had lucky and grateful members win the past two demonstrations.

New Officers:

Our constitution calls for the election of officers at the November meeting. The nominating committee has been hard at work and developed the following suggestions for club officers in 2005.

President: Dan Bonnett
Vice President: Justin Lovelace
Treasurer: Mike Blake
Secretary: Lisa Martin
Affiliate: Steve Sanders

If we could approve these officers at the November meeting it would be timely and beneficial.

There is one board member position that will be voted on later.

The nominating committee of Mike Blake, Steve Sanders and Bill Watkins has done an admirable job. And to those who have agreed to be officers, Thank You.

October Program:

1) Norman brought back the tree that was air layered at the April meeting. With strong concern and trepidation the nursing pot was removed and a multitude of roots were revealed. The tree was potted and made ready for over wintering.

2) Steve presented information on fertilizing and the club engaged in an open conversation about a wide range of topics related to fertilizing. It appears that there are differing views and information on this very important subject. This format of information sharing is helpful to all levels of bonsai enthusiast.

Raffle:

As usual members brought items to raffle. And as usual there were great items for members and guest to get at great prices. David Parham brought some very healthy and unique tropical plants. There was a high end styling stand that went for a portion of it original cost. It is this generosity that allows the club to provide functions and opportunities to its members.
Brown Bag Presentation:

The Tulsa Garden Center presents Brown Bag Seminars the first Wednesday of each month. They've asked for a volunteer from Green Country Bonsai to present the seminar on January 5, 2005. Mike Blake presented one on Landscape Design last month that was well attended, but strangely enough, most of the questions were about Bonsai. New member Andre Chenault and Mike did their best to field the questions, but certainly there is a lot of interest in Bonsai. Hope that one of our more experienced members will volunteer. Just contact Norm Summers if you're willing to do this.

Late News Flash:

the Roy Nagatoshi work shop will be in the South Room of the Garden Center and not the Barn.

As mentioned above, Mr. Nagatoshi, will be at the November, club meeting. He will do a styling demonstration.

Fall Show:

November 6th and 7th will be the fall show. Set up Friday the 5th, 5 to 7 PM. If for some reason you are unable to make the set up with your trees, bring them on Saturday morning. Please let Dan know how many trees you will be bringing.

Maintenance Chores:

There is a lot coming up and a lot to do. It is advisable to spray your tropical plants for bugs before you bring them inside. It is also time to start getting materials ready for over wintering plants outside. Keep an open eye for plants that would look good in the fall show. Like maples that the leaves are changing, smoke bushes that are showing their colors and any conifers that have done well over the summer.

Upcoming Events:

We have some of our biggest events of the year coming up the end of October and the first of November. We are having our fall work shop with Roy Nagatoshi, Saturday 10/30/04, two three hour sessions.
