| Next Meeting: Monday, February 2, 2004 7:00pm at the Tulsa Garden Center, 2435 S. Peoria Ave. Program: Hands on: styling trees for the Spring show. The meeting began with a discussion regarding changing the name of the club. Discussion was should we be Green Country Bonsai Society or Green Country Bonsai Association. The change is due to legal banking and tax requirements. We will have a vote at the February meeting. It is important that we have a large number of the members present at this meeting to vote, as stated in the constitution and by-laws. The board thanks you for your support in this matter. There was also a sign up sheet to bring snacks to the meetings. We still have April, September and October open. Annual membership dues are now due. $30.00 for Family membership, $20.00 for single membership. Dan Bonnett has volunteered to be the Show Master for the Spring show. Show and Tell: George Gray brought a Hackenberry. Norman Summers brought a hibiscus with a bloom and Peter Aradi brought a typical Japan viewing stone with a wooden box with writing on the box which is like its pedigree, telling where it is from. We also watched a video by Peter Aradi. This was a very interesting video. If any one would like a copy please contact Norman Summers. | There was also a swap meeting. There were several books, pots, and plants. There are still some openings in the Program Schedule for the monthly meetings. If you have any ideas please submit them. George will be buying the trees for styling at the next meeting. This will cost club $100.00. While the club has pots, there was discussion about ordering plastic pots to put the trees in. This would be cheaper than the pots we already have, this could help the mark-up on selling at the show in April. What to do with the pots will be decided at a later date, it only takes a month to get the plastic pots after ordering them. The club is looking at a new company to purchase club shirts from. Steve Sanders will order the minimum and if they are a nice quality we can also order other items with our logo such as hats, aprons and so on. The items also come in several colors and styles. We will pick the color that will make the logo stand out the best. George Gray is looking into getting a guest speaker who will demonstrate the technique of grafting. We are also looking at the possibility of getting Ben Oki for the spring workshop. Pat and Mike are working on getting supplies for the preparing of soil. |
