| Next Meeting: Monday, March 1, 2004 7:00pm at the Tulsa Garden Center, 2435 S. Peoria Ave. Program: Hands on: preparing soil. The meeting began with introduction of guest David Krogsrud. He brought his sarissa and needed some advice on its care; he felt it was not looking so healthy. We have taken care of the name change. We are now GREEN COUNTRY BONSAI SOCIETY. Thank you to all who helped with suggestions and support on helping with this decision. There are still several pinch pots that are unclaimed, if you think one or more of these pots might be yours you can contact Charles Sitter, as he would like to find the owner. Membership: If you have not renewed your membership, this would be a good time to do so. A sign up sheet for meeting refreshments was passed around but there is still one opening. Please contact Norm Summers if you would like to bring refreshments. Bonsai Workshops: A Spring workshop with Ben Oki will be March 20th and 21st. The morning session will be 9:00am-12:00 noon and afternoon is 1:00pm-4:00pm. Each three hour period is $50.00. We still have three slots open forr both the morning and afternoon on both days. If you would like to attend please contact Norm Summers. | After February 15th the workshop will be open to nonmembers. Hurry and sign up now so you don't miss this great opportunity! The Fall workshop will be October 30th and 31st with Roy Nagatoshi, as well as a demonstration at the November 1st meeting. C.K. Carlson suggested that we make Roy Nagatoshi and Ben Oki honorary members of the Green Country Bonsai Society. If you are interested in some seedlings contact Frank Kohn by the middle of February. Seedlings can be ordered for just a couple of dollars each, depending on the type of tree you purchase, such as Bradford Pear and Red Bud. George Gray can also get some trees to style such as Trident Maples for $3.00 and Ponderosa Pines for $ 2.00 plus tax. The web site is now up and going. You can check it out at WWW.Greencountrybonsai.org. If you have anything you think needs to be added please let Mike Blake know. Mike Flagagan brought a Chinese Juniper with a blue hue that will turn greener in the spring. He also brought a pancake rock and some other nice rocks he found in the salt spills. Pat Coen brought a tray and Jasper that looks like a pine tree growing out of a ledge and a geo on sand. |
